Will Ruffwear’s Float Coat work for my dog?
When properly sized and fitted, our Float Coat will add to your dog's natural buoyancy to assist them while swimming in the water. While we do not assign a weight rating to our Float Coat sizes, this type of flotation device is comparable to a Level III rating for human PFDs (personal flotation devices), which are also sized based on human chest measurement rather than weight.
If my dog is in between sizes, which size Float Coat should I choose?
Ruffwear Float Coat sizing is based on the girth measurement of your dog’s ribcage (the widest part of the ribcage behind the dog's front legs). Once you have taken this measurement, please refer to our Sizing Tool, linked under the size drop-down on the Float Coat Page. If your dog's measurement falls between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.
